after reinstalling windows through the media creation tool I have constantly gotten the error code (0x80070424) when attempting to install apps from the microsoft store. Online solutions pointed to needing a newer version of windows however i already had windows 21H2 installed.

the update troubleshooter tells me that it detected an issue with checking for windows updates though I do not know how to solve this

    Hi Aayan,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

The error code indicates WU Service is missing. This is usually done by malware or something like StopUpdates10.

Run a MB scan first and let us know the outcomes:

Make sure there are no software that stops updates. Then,

Try doing a repair install. A repair Install keeps everything including Files and applications, and reinstalls Windows.

actually I've already tried to repair install windows which did not seem to improve the situation, however I did not think about programs stopping updates. Is there a method to check whether such programs are affecting windows? I did not install any specifically for this task though so i can only think it might be a secondary feature of a program.

You may want to go through the installed apps. When did you do a repair install? After malware detection or before?

Usually RI resolves the problem in 99 percent of the cases, if you use a fresh ISO from MS.
