Cortana randomly triggers without command

Hello,

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11 on release back in October, Cortana has randomly come up while I'm using my computer without command. When Cortana pops up, it reduces the volume of whatever I'm doing so it makes meetings hard. I also find it weird because Cortana is listening and I don't want to say something private and Cortana is just listening.

Thanks.

Hi TechStudent10,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

You can disable Cortana from using the Microphone.

Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > Cortana > set toggle button OFF.

You shouldn't have to disable it Paul. Siri never does that to me and Alexa rarely does that but Cortana goes off even when no one is around. I've had the google version in the past and it worked well too. So basically Cortana is an unfinished piece of software because of the issues, congratulations Microsoft.
