Cannot access w11 login screen

HI,

This afternoon W11 upgrade popped up and I installed it my Dell Vostro laptop.

Upgrade went well and I got into my new desktop.

I then selected restart and now I get the picture screen with clock.

The clock is showing correct time.

I also have the network Icon and power icon lower right of screen.

What I do not get is any response to the spacebar or fingerprint to access login.

Laptop does not respond to ctrl alt delete either. :(

Can anyone advise is there a magic key to get in or has it all gone haywire?

If you have access to the system, you can also go to Settings > System > Recovery. If it's been a while since you updated to W11, you can return to W10.

    HI,

I managed to access via sign in screen once and I checked out windows 11, including DISM etc, and its all working correct.

I tried the troubleshooting and it says there is nothing wrong.

Unfortunately I have to shutdown to try and get to the sign on screen as when I could do a restart it hangs still.

I am still trying to get in though.

I made a full backup yesterday of W10 so am thinking of restoring to that and forgetting W11. Disappointed is an understatement. I have a Dell machine that is checked over every week and no issues found so am gutted.

Have you tried all the methods in the link to enter safe mode and it is not possible?

    Hi Claudeir,

Thanks for the support; greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I cannot get into the computer. Every time it boot it gets to the Text overlay for the signin display; however

The sign in process is made up of three elements:-

    1 Text overlay

    2 Picture

    3 Actual sign in options

I can only get to number 1 where it hangs.

When I break into it; LOL i will try all the above.

-Hi, my name is Claudeir, I'm happy to help you!

Restart the laptop a few more times to test.

If the problem remains with the entry screen stuck, you can enter safe mode:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sta...

If it works, check the system files:

-Right click on start, run PowerShell(admin) or Command Prompt(admin)

Copy and paste the following command:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

and press Enter. (Note: This step may take a few minutes to start and up to 30 minutes to complete).

Once you see a message saying "The operation completed successfully", copy and paste this command:

    Sfc /scannow

    and press Enter.

Wait for a message that says "Verification 100% complete".

    Then add this command:

    chkdsk /f /r /b

Confirm with "Y" and restart your computer for this last step.

-If I cannot enter safe mode, in WinRE mode (which is the mode with the blue background with several options where you enter safe mode) Click on Troubleshoot > advanced options > Startup repair. If not, you can also test by clicking on System Restore, find a date before the problem and proceed.

Also, if it doesn't work, click on Go back to the previous version.

-Feel free to leave your opinion, marking as answered if the answer helped, or leaving more details so that we can continue the service, this is very important to us.

    Graciously,

    Claudeir
