Thank you for the post and I apologize for the delayed response!
What is the different types of clients in AIP and MIP?
- When it comes to the different types of clients, specifically referring to Azure Information Protection (AIP), the most current is the Azure Information Protection unified labeling client. There are older clients, such as the Azure Information Protection classic client, but the classic client in the portal along with Label Management are deprecated as of March 31, 2021.
What is unified labeling ? What are the extended benefits available with UL?
- The Azure Information Protection unified labeling client provides a client-server solution that helps protect an organization's documents and emails, and is an alternative to the built-in labeling solution for Microsoft Office. For more info.
- In order to see the extended benefits, I believe this is specific for each customer. However, I'd recommend reviewing our Compare the labeling solutions documentation so you can gain a better understanding of the differences between each client versus the Office built-in labeling solution.
Is it mandatory to install UL client in local system in order to protect docs containing sensitive info, if we don't install the client how the labels are going to behave?
- Yes, you will have to install the AIP unified labeling client for Windows, for more info - Which client do I install for testing new functionality?
