Windows 11 Installation Failure

I have a Alienware Area 51m laptop that continually fails when it reaches 94% updating for Win11.

I have tried a number of approaches I've seen in the community:

  • drivers updated
  • clean boot
  • run DISM and SFC to repair any problems
  • updated drivers and so-on
  • I don't run an external AV (only Defender)

All this makes absolutely no difference (or to be more precise, I still haven't got to the root of the issue). I'm now stuck on knowing exactly what the problem is. The error log messages are not really giving me much in the way of pointers. The exit error messages from Panther are:

2021-12-02 13:42:43, Error MIG Error 2147942512 while gathering object C:\Users\peter\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.KHAlpha_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base-cgl\CGL\130 [vgm212.cgl]. Shell application requested abort![gle=0x00000070]

Any pointers greatly appreciated. I can post the error logs from Rollback and Panther directories if that helps at all.

Fixed it - WIn11 installed. Interesting that an old alpha installation of MSFS caused the problem!

That should definitely solve that one. There should be no try lol ;-)

Might need to manually remove that folder if the uninstaller doesn't. But that's about it.

I have now. It's (or was) Microsoft Flight Simulator Alpha installation (which I had completely forgotten about as I installed the full version a while back). Uninstalling has removed it and I will try Win11 again!

Do you happen to know what the package KHAlpha is or have you checked the folder mentioned in the error?
