dism problems, win10 reinstall problems

Hello,

I had a lot of problems installing Visual Studio 2022

After a long test with VS team they said that the problems are on Windows.

Summarizing the tests I made:

check disk : no error
sfc /scannow : no error
windows defender scan : no virus, no malware
only the dism.exe report always error 2 (using different command line parameters). I have already tried all the suggested remedies to "dism error 2" but nothing worked.

Desperate, I tried to reinstall windows 10 with keep apps and data options.
When the installer reach 70% the installer quit without information.
If it is useful I can include the two files setuperr.log and setupact.log

I don’t understand why the installer can’t reinstall the win 10. What can be done in these cases ? Win 10 is very fragile if its installer can’t repair it.

Regards
Giovanni

Personally, I'd not waste time with anything else and just full format the drive then install Windows clean.

Could be an underlying issue though such as needing a new drive. That should become apparent in time if there is. Might be that a full format fixes it. At least that's the best fix possible in my experience. I couldn't get through an image backup before that no matter what I tried with one drive and after it did.

    Hi Giovanni,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

The underlying cause of Windows reinstall failure is DISM. DISM is also used by the Setup as well, like driver migration process.

Can you share the Setup llogs you mentioned through Onedrive?
