Thank you for your advice! I was using my internal microphone. I have now got a headset and speech recognition is now responding to my Start Listening command.
Speech Recognition - "start listening" command failure
Why does Windows 11 Speech Recognition not recognise my "start listening" command and how can I fix this?

My apology for the inconvenienced that have caused you. Let me go ahead and assist you in this matter.
At this point you can go ahead and go to setting download and install all the pending update on your computer
- Windows +I (Setting)> Update and Security> Check all the Windows Update
You may consider as well creating a new user profile if the still persist after doing the Windows Update.
