I have a few questions regarding Microsoft certifications, particularly those related to SQL Server and Azure Database administration:
I understand that Microsoft periodically retires certain certifications and exams. Could you clarify what type of certification the following were classified as:
MCTS: SQL Server 2005
**MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development** Were these considered role-based, fundamentals, or another category? Additionally, did these certifications expire after their retirement? If so, what were their official expiration dates?
With regard to certification validity, could you confirm whether certifications such as the MCTS and MCSA mentioned above are still recognized in any way, or if they have become completely obsolete following retirement?
I have noticed the current certification titled **Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate**. Could you please advise whether this certification is comparable—particularly in terms of skill set, focus, and functionality—to the retired **MCTS: SQL Server 2005** or **MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development**? If not, could you highlight the main differences in scope and intended job role?
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. I look forward to your insights.
