Issues installing Admin Console on Arc servers

I am getting an error when trying to install the Admin console on the servers I have added to the Azure Arc. Here is the error: Failed to install extension

Hello Bryan,

DNS Rebinding Protection

This error can be triggered if your network or firewall blocks DNS lookups for localhost or internal IPs.

Fix: If you're using pfSense or similar firewalls, allow DNS rebinding for the affected servers

Missing RBAC Role

Ensure the Arc-enabled server has the Windows Admin Center Administrator Login role assigned.

You can check this in Azure Portal > Access Control (IAM) on the server resource.

Extension Installation Timeout or Portal Bug

Sometimes the portal fails due to transient issues or script errors.

Fix: Try installing the extension via Azure CLI:

az connectedmachine extension create \ --machine-name <your-arc-server-name> \ --resource-group <your-resource-group> \ --name WindowsAdminCenter \ --extension-type WindowsAdminCenter \ --location <region>

Browser Cache or Portal Script Errors

The error stack trace references dynamic JS files from the portal.

Fix: Try:

Clearing browser cache.

Using a different browser.

Accessing the portal in incognito mode.

Hello @Bryan Buck,

As discussed, Installing Windows Admin Center on a Domain controller is not supported.
