How to disable tablet mode on laptop device with Windows 11 Home version - option missing in Settings>System

I'm having trouble downloading Adobe Indesign because it's identifying my laptop as a tablet. I see that Windows 11 offers a tablet mode so I assume my computer is in tablet mode and that's why this is happening?

I looked for how to disable this on Windows 11 and instructions say that this option is found in Settings>System>Multitasking; however, I don't see any such tablet mode options here. I only see options relating to the organization of multiple windows on a screen.

Are there any alternative methods to disabling tablet mode outside of the settings menu?

Thanks

    Hello raul perez,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Windows 11 handles “tablet mode” more dynamically and automatically. It’s essentially an adaptive UI that kicks in when a convertible device, like a 2-in-1 laptop, is in tablet mode (e.g., screen folded back, keyboard detached).

Based on your needs, you might be able to disable this mode by modifying the registry.

Type “Registry Editor” in the search box to open it, then navigate to the following path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl\ConvertibleSlateMode

Set the value of ConvertibleSlateMode to 1 and see if that helps improve the situation.

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click How to back up and restore the registry in Windows - Microsoft Support to view the article.

    Best wishes
