.onepkg Files

Hello,

I am a teacher who is trying to engage students in remote learning during this pandemic that is happening in the world. I tried to do an escape room style activity for students to engage in math while they are at home. After looking at some tutorials, I was able to export the escape room notebook as an .onepkg file. However, when I import it into my class notebook and try to open it on a phone, it does not work. Most of my students do not have access to a laptop. Is there any advice on how I can have students work on a notebook file without having them alter the original. Only way I found was to provide a link to my sharepoint, however, that will alter the original.

Hi Yesenia,

May I know if you are trying to import a OneNote (.onepkg file) to your existing class notebook?

We can’t open .onepkg files directly in OneNote for mobile app. You’ll need OneNote 2016 application on Windows to open .onepkg files. Also, we can’t import one OneNote to another.

If you are following the steps mentioned in this article, please note, exporting and importing notebooks through OneNote for the web is only available for notebooks stored on personal OneDrive accounts, not for notebooks stored on OneDrive for Business or SharePoint.

If you are using class notebook then I suppose your notebooks are students in OneDrive for business, if you are the creator of the notebook.

In this scenario, open .onepkg file in OneNote 2016 application, use File>Share feature to store the notebook in OneDrive for business or SharePoint.

Now that your notebook is stored in cloud, open both the notebook in OneNote 2016 app (the new notebook and the other notebook in which you wanted to move the content), then use Move or copy notes feature to move the content from source notebook to destination.

To move or copy section from one OneNote to another:

  1. In the source Notebook, copy (don’t move) all of the pages from the old section into the new one. You can do this by right clicking each section and then clicking Move or Copy.
  2. When the sections have been copied to the new notebook, press Shift+F9 to manually sync the notebook. If a progress bar appears, wait for it to finish.

Thanks,

Neha
