Microsoft Teams template doesn't populate configured tabs/apps

Hello,

I've created a Teams template that has a number of "Document Library" apps added to various channels. Each of those shows up as a "tab" in the template definition grid that shows each channel (columns are Name/Tabs/Show by Default).

When I create a Team based off of the template, none of the tabs are created in the channels that get created.

Each channel gets created (though they are hidden, even though "Shown by default" is set to Yes) and once I un-hide them they are present in the Team but none of the Document Libraries are there. Only the default, "Files" tab is present.

How do I get the tabs I define in the template to come across in a Team build off of the template?

Thanks!

    Hello,

Many thanks for your reply with above information, it helps us understand your scenario more clearly.

Based on this article: Create a team from a template, create a new team based on template should set up a new team quickly and easily with predefined channels, tabs, and apps.

Given this result and to help you further, we may need more time to do some tests and research on our side, I'll update the result with you as soon as possible, thanks for your understanding and patience.

In the meantime, may I confirm if there is the same issue if you select a different/build-in template when creating new team?

    Best regards,

    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer,

My apologies, I meant to get back to you sooner. Thanks for getting back to me though.

I believe you aren't quite understanding my situation. The suggestion you provided is for if I were trying to create a team based off of an existing team and use the existing team as a template. If I go through that process, I get the options for "Choose what you'd like to include from the original team".

My use case is that I'm trying to use a template I created from scratch as the basis for new teams. If you go to your Teams admin center and on the left menu expand the "Teams" option then select "Team template" you will be at the screen that I have configured my template.

This template configuration process allows you to add apps that are listed as tabs in the overview of the template. This would imply that they are tabs in their respective channels. Instead of selecting the option to create a team based on a group or team, I use the option to "Select from a template" and select my template. When I go through this process, I don't get any option to "Choose what you'd like to include from the original team", which makes sense given that there is no original team. However, there should be an option to include the tabs I've configured for my template. I've included some screenshots that attempt to show the relevant parts of the process.

    Hello,

From your description, my understanding is that you have an existing “template team" with a number of ”Document Library“ tabs, and your problem is that when you create new team based on the existing ”template team", the new team doesn't has the custom “Document Library” tabs, right?

If so, I just tested this on my side, based on the test result, the new created team has all the custom tabs like the existing team, but please kindly note that after I create the new team, I will still need to configure the settings for apps and tabs. Please see:

    The existing template team:

    The new team:

Given this result, about your problem, please make sure you select the check box before Tabs when creating new team from existing template team, for your reference:

    Best Regards,

    Jennifer
