Adding users within the same domain without license

Dear All,

I have a licensed office 365 business in which i have created my teams organization.

I need to sign in other members of my organization to teams free version (without access to the Office 365 business package) (e.g. will have access to teams only for group communications no need for office or exchange services)

when these users sign in they get the following message

Is this doable?? or do I have to purchase license for each organization member even if they are only using teams free ?

If doable please send me a link for the instructions / steps to do so. As when I try to assign the Microsoft Teams free license to a user of my organization in azure portal I get a license assignment failed error message.

BR,

Mohamed Gowaili

    Hi Mohamed,

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

Unfortunately, it is not possible. You'd need to enable Microsoft 365 business with Teams service licence to allow the user access to your tenant.

You'd require Microsoft 365 business licence for each member of your organisation.

If you're looking for trail MS Teams licence then you could check Teams Exploratory license: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams...

When you have a free organisation using MS Teams free licence, it is a completely different tenant that will not interact with your Office 365 business tenant.

    Regards

    Nik
