Teams Classroom - Missing "Class Materials" Folder

Anonymous
2020-04-17T16:53:28+00:00

Three students are missing the Class Materials folder, normally found under General>Files tab.  They had it yesterday!  And the other 20 students have it, just not these three.  They are using a laptop to access Teams, and so am I!

Advice? Thanks!

    Hi Meghan,

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

From the description provided, seems like the three students have lost access to the Class Materials folder in the Class type team. We assume this problem could be caused due to Unique permissions to the Class Material Document Library in the related SharePoint team site. Whenever you create a Microsoft Team, it creates a SharePoint team site with the respective team. So, the beginning step, to look at this problem is to check the permission of those Class Materials Document Library. Follow the below steps:

Open the Microsoft Teams> Go to Class where the assignment is submitted> General tab> Click on three dots beside the Team> Open in SharePoint> Site Contents in the Navigation bar> Class Materials> Settings (Gear icon)> Library settings> Permissions for this document library> Check permission> Enter the student's name and check.

If the permission level is none, it means those students can't see those folders. In this case, you need to Grant permissions to them again.

So, please give a try by following the above steps and let us know the result.

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas

    Hi Hamish Auld.

Click on the Site Contents and check whether there is Class Materials document Library listed.

You can also manually create a new document library to make it "read-only" to the students but "editable" to faculty.

Use folders to create read-only files for students or other team members

Also, it's not suggested to reply in an aged thread. Please raise a new thread if you have further questions on this issue.

    Appreciate for your understanding.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen

Hello. I checked one of my student's permissions and it stated that he had "read" access for the class materials. However, on his end it says that the files have either been deleted or he does not have the permission. How can I fix this issue?

    Thank you.
