Teams on iPhone with 2 Factor Authentication Error: You didn't enter the expected verification code. Please try again.

I am attempting to login to Teams from my iPhone.  I used this seamlessly before we enabled 2FA and now I cannot leave the screen to get the code and return, it will ask me to sign in again, sending yet a NEW code to be entered.  After a few weeks of this, I loaded the Microsoft Authenticator App and a Get Codes link appeared in the top right corner.  The code that is shown does not work.  Interestingly enough, it is not the same one being texted to me.

There is a vicious cycle of my attempt to go get the code (via text) which involves leaving Teams.  Upon re-entry, Teams resubmits my credentials and thus generates a new code.

Can you help?

Hi Tracy Kabeshita,

I go through the post carefully, per your description, it seems that the code get from Microsoft Authenticator App doesn’t work for MFA on Teams App, if this is the case, it could be an issue related to Microsoft Authenticator app, have you set up the Microsoft Authenticator app as your verification method? Additionally, I would suggest you go to Microsoft Authenticator app forum where you can get dedicated help for the app.

Additionally, have you retired other way to receive the code? You may get a phone call on the code. As you can see the article: Set up a mobile device as your two-factor verification method.

Hope these can help.

Regards,

Clark

    Clark:

You suggestion causes the same issue.  Leaving teams on iPhone to answer the phone to get the phone verification question makes Team generate a new verification request when you enter the app again.

This is a bug in Teams/iPhone that needs to be fixed.
