On Azure Postgresql website, it states that Azure support only supports N-2. Currently Azure Postgresql latest supported is version 11. We are on PostgreSQL version 9.6.

  1. Will I still be able to use postgresql version 9.6 if version 12 comes out?
  2. When will support end for 9.6?

@JosephLee-9161 We do not have timelines for the availability of version 12 at this time.

While the minor version upgrades are performed automatically, major version upgrades require you to create a dump and restore it on a server with the newer version.
You will need to upgrade to a newer version when v12 is available on Azure.

Rest assured, timelines regarding availability, end of support etc will be communicated and sufficient time will be provided for customers to upgrade.

Postgresql 9.6 is end of support. If you are running PostgreSQL 9.6 in a production environment, we suggest that you make plans to upgrade to a newer, supported version of PostgreSQL using pg_upgrade or pg_dump.
