Linux Desktop time zone

I am a consultant for a business using Teams. The rest of the business runs on Windows but my systems are Linux Mint.  The Teams desktop app for Linux I find works perfectly (so far) except that it insists on operating on UTC time. For most things this is not a major issue, just annoying as chat timestamps are all wrong, but it makes life difficult when it comes to scheduling anything in the Calendar.

I have tried to reset my system's real time clock in BIOS but my OS corrects it back to UTC on reboot - which is ok as every other program on the computer expects it to be UTC (Linux standard - well, pretty much standard for everyone except Microsoft).

It is strange that an application supposedly made for Linux expects a Windows standard on this one thing. Programming oversight perhaps? Is there a workaround (other than using the web app) or a fix happening?

Thanks

    Hi crionsynx

    Thanks for the advice.

I followed the instructions to make Linux use local time, rebooted, checked the RTC (all good), but Teams app is still working in UTC.  The web version is fine so I guess I'm stuck with that for anything involving calendar & scheduling with other team members.  Oh well, I suppose I'll be discovering what functionality is missing from the web version, which is always good to know.

    Much appreciated

You can make Linux use local time instead of UTC.

I found similar issue for Microsoft Teams Mac version in the user feedback forum. You can also file feedback for linux desktop if you desire.
