Optional attendees

I keep having the optional attendees decline meetings to which I have not invited them. Their names are automatically added after I send the meeting notification out. As a result, I get way too many 'decline' emails. I would like to not have these optional attendees added automatically.

    Hello ahymes,

    I’m here to help.

To see if it is related to your Teams desktop client, please kindly sign into Teams on the web with your Microsoft 365 account in an InPrivate/ Incognito window and schedule a test meeting there to see if the same problem occurs.

If it works fine in InPrivate/ Incognito window, this might be related to cache in your Teams desktop client or web client.

    • To clear cache if you are using Windows:

    Please delete the following files:

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\application cache\cache

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\blob_storage

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Cache

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\databases.

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\GPUcache

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\IndexedDB

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Local Storage

     %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\tmp

    • If you are using Mac:

Please delete files in the following folders:

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Application Cache/Cache”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/blob_storage”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Cache”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/databases”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/GPUCache”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/IndexedDB”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Local Storage”

    “~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/tmp”

    • If you are using Web client, please go to Settings in your browser, usually under Privacy and security, please kindly clear browsing data & Coolies and other site data to see if it helps.

If you the issue persists with InPrivate/ Incognito window or if clearing cache doesn’t help, to better help you with your problem, please kindly provide us more details on the commonality of automatically added optional attendees. For example, they are all guest users in your organization, or they are probably from the same Teams group channel, etc. Also, if this happens to other users in your organization, please let us know. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Please feel free to let us know if there are any updates from you. I’ll be happy to continue working on this problem with you:)

    Best regards,

    Jasmine
