When I call through Teams calling, teams automatically opens a chat conversation that is empty. Can I turn this off?

It's really odd behavior, I suspect it could be an intermittent issue.

In the meantime, you can use MS Teams online to make a call.

    Please follow these steps below:

    1. Please go to your computer then open your chrome or edge browser as the only recommended browsers to access MS Teams online.
    2. Please go to MS Teams online https://teams.microsoft.com
    3. Then try to log in & make a call.

I do believe this issue needs to be investigated furthermore by the MS Team engineering team so they can determine the best next steps for this particular issue.

I highly suggest you report this issue, If this is a bug normally they will release fixes but as a community advisor, I can't guarantee that for you since I don't work for Microsoft.

Follow these steps: Select Help > select report a problem

    Kind Regards

    Hi Daniel,

Everyone in the organization gets a chat window when they use the call tab. This can be useful at times but can also create unnecessary chat windows if you already have active chat sessions. This doesn't seem to have anything to do with a cache issue either.

This only occurs when I call people I have not chatted with before. i have emptied the cache file but still have the same result.

I don't have issues like you when calling a person under the call tab even though I have an existing active chat session with a particular person.

Could you please try to clear the cache files and see how it goes?

    Hi CalvinRuizendaal

My name is Daniel. I will be more than happy to assist you.

Could you please reset the MS Team app and see how it goes.

Please visit the following article and refer to the section, under the "Windows: Clear Teams Cache" section. https://www.uvm.edu/it/kb/article/clearing-team...

However, if the problem still persists, May I ask, Did you call by using the call tab or chat tab? Are you offering to chat in the meeting room?
