Hi All,
I'm trying to download the Windows 10 update KB5003173 from the Microsoft Update Catalog (Link: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB5003173) and I'm getting a bit confused at to which entry to choose.
First off, my PC has an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU and is running Windows 10 Pro version 20H2 OS Build 19042.985. As far as I know the CPU is a 64 bit processor.
If I select the option "2021-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems", which I thought might be the right one, it pops up a windows stating that the Architecture is AMD64.
If I select the option "2021-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x86-based Systems" it pops up a window stating that the Architecture is X86.
Can anyone tell me which option I should choose given my CPU and Windows 10 configuration, please?

I don't understand the difference between x64-based systems and x86-based systems
x64 == 64 bit operating system
x86 == 32 bit operating system
For this purpose AMD64 and x64 are now one and the same

many thanks for your reply and thanks for clarifying the mystery. So for my Intel 64 bit cpu I should, as you said, download "2021-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5003173)" even though it says the architecture is AMD64. If I attempted to install the 'wrong one' would it tell me or would it continue to try and install the incorrect one?
I wish Microsoft would make it clearer.

You're welcome. If for some reason it was wrong one or requirements not met it would throw out a not applicable and abort.

but the simplest solution may be to turn on automatic updates and let it happen automatically.

many thanks for your reply. Why does the "2021-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5003173)" catalog entry have an architecture of AMD64? I don't understand the difference between x64-based systems and x86-based systems. Which one applies to me?
The reason I wanted to install this update 'stand alone' is because there are several other Windows 10 updates 'waiting in the wings' and turning on automatic updates will automatically install them. I've had a
load of trouble trying to install KB5003173 (Link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/410721/windows-update-kb5003173-error-0x800f0922.html?childToView=433337#comment-433337) and I'm still trying to find an answer to fix it.
