undo/redo buffer bug - how to increase size/depth

I had a situation today where I was typing in, like 3-4 lines worth and Hit Ctrl-Z expecting to undo the last word but it removed 3.5 lines and Ctrl-Y wouldn't bring them back => what was there was really deleted.

So, the first thought is that there's a severe limit on undo/redo buffer and if that's the case I'd appreciate a way to increase it (registry editing is fine as well, just give me path).

Otherwise it's really a bug. I went to some other windows and back while typing so if it's a bug that might be possible contributing factor. The buffer for (typed) text shouldn't be a problem - last week I typed in a page worth of text but I don't remember whether I used Ctrl-Z/Y. For today's typing I did have a number of back and forths so it would probably be the length/depth of the undo/redo queue in terms of the number of objects rather than no of bytes.
