Shared File Lost in Teams

My team was populating a shared Excel sheet in the Files tab of our team channel. It has gone missing. I can see that I last accessed it on 4/4/18, but when I click that link in Recents it says the file cannot be found. I checked my recycle bins in OneDrive and my desktop but no luck. There are six other members of the team that have access to this file. How can we find it if it has been deleted or moved to another channel by someone by accident?

Hi Dale,

For each team there is a related SharePoint team site collection. All files that under File tab in the team are stored in the related site. In that team, click "...", Open in SharePoint to access the related site, and then perform the following options:

  1. Click Recycle bin at the left pane. See if there is the file. Let the team owner access the recycle bin of this site, he/she should be able to see Second-stage recycle bin at the bottom of the page, click it to check.
  2. When you click Open in SharePoint, you should be redirected to the document library of that site, in the left top you should see a search box, enter the file name to see if it can be searched.

Best regards,

Tim
