Kia ora,

Is there any way to add our students - who are on a different email domain from teaching staff - to a Class Notebook? I know I can share the Notebook with them, But I want them to have their own pages as a student would.

Ngā mihi

Hi Jax,

Sorry for my reply if it makes you feel confused. I want to do a brief summary about this thread and all I want to share with you. If you have different students in the same tenant but use different domain, like ******@abc.com or ******@xyz.com. The tenant names are same( Tenant name is say). As long as they are in the same tenant, and domains of abc.com and xua.com are added in your tenant. You can add student who uses different domain. But if they are in separated tenant, like A in one@abc.com and the other B in two@abc.xyz.com, B can’t be added in A’s class notebook. They have different tenant names which means they are in the different tenant( Tenant one and tenant two). And of cause, the students use subdomain in the same tenant, can be added in class notebook.

Thanks for all your efforts for this thread and your patience. Please don’t hesitate to update this thread if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

Ivy

    Hi Jax,

    Thanks for posting back.

After my research, I think it's possible to add a subdomain to our Office 365. To add subdomains, you must manage your own DNS settings at your registrar's website. If you are letting Microsoft manage your DNS settings with NS records, or if you bought the domain from Microsoft, you can't add subdomains.

For your reference, Can I add custom subdomains or multiple domains to Office 365? and you can follow this steps to add aubdomain inAdd a domain to Office 365

    Appreciated for your patience.

    Regards,

    Ivy

Hi, the students are on a separate tenant than the teachers. So one says @xyz.com for example and the other says @student.xyz.com.

I have seen people mention there is a work around, is there?

    Hi Jax,

Thanks for query in our forum. After my test, when you want to add a student in your class notebook, you need to input student’s name, group or email address. When you input a different domain email address, it will show error like this:

And it will let you to input a correct name, group or email address again.

The solution is designed to work within the class, and that assumes that each class member has an Office 365 account within your domain.

    Regards,

    Ivy
