Student cannot open assignment in Teams

When I create an assignment, add a resource, and assign my assignment to a student (member) following the instructions found here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/create-an-assignment-in-microsoft-teams-23c128d0-ec34-4691-9511-661fba8599be - when the student signs in, clicks on the Assignments icon in the left panel and accesses their assignment, when they click on the word document, they get a message "Sorry, something went wrong". This happens for every option to open the document, whether online, in the app, or in Teams. I tried one test student who's account is in a different OU, and they were able to open, edit and submit the same assignment with no problem. Is there something I should be looking at regarding the OU? Does firewall internet permissions affect working with Teams? That is the only difference between the accounts that I can think of, however I did remove one student account from their internet access group, and added it to the same group as the account that could open the assignment document, and it still got the same error message. Looking at the options below, I'll add that we are using Microsoft EES licensing, and the license I have assigned is Microsoft Teams Office 365 A1 for Students. Thank you for any insights you may be able to offer.

Hi JoniSeth,

Thanks for posting detailed information here, to figure out the root cause of one issue, we need to narrow down the scope of it, for your two questions, to check whether they are related to the issue, please let me know whether the student that cannot open word document is in different OU from you and please try to close the firewall temporarily, then view if the outcome is different.

In addition, to check whether the issue is related to Microsoft Teams or Word document, may I know whether the specific student can open the Word document(Download first) in Word app? Or please create a custom Word document and add it to Teams, then view whether the student can view it, how about other type of attachment?

Furthermore, in order to further understand your actual situation, would you minding offering me more information?

  1. Whether all students in your organization have this issue, or are the students that have this issue have same symptom?
  2. You mentioned "This happens for every option to open the document, whether online, in the app, or in Teams. ", does it mean the attachment cannot also be opened in Word and Word Online, and the issue also occurs in Teams for mobile?

  1. Collect related network log for me at your convenience.
  2. Screenshot of the prompt error.

For privacy, I'll collect the log in private message, you could click the link below to access it.
