I just got the same problem. Instead of .mp4s I downloaded .png files. It seems to be a bug with the educational version. Renaming the file worked!!

Good morning community,
I ran into a problem regarding downloading a recorded meeting last Monday. Let me first tell you that i've never experienced this problem untill now.
After i've recorded the meeting i wanted to download the meeting but instead of a .mp4 or a similar video file it download a .png file that states ' MicrosoftTeams-image.png' . The odd thing about this is that it did indeed download the size of the recording ( 263mb).
My question is as follows: How do i get the file to convert to a video file so that i can listen to the recording for my assignment, or is there a way to download the correct file?
I hope i can be helped.
Kind regards,

Just came across this issue, strange to believe it's still a bug. You can simply rename the png file as mp4 and your video will play. Viola!
find the file in windows explorer, enable extension view and change it from .png to .mp4
Worked fine for me.
Hope this helps!
Hi Maarten,
I'm glad to know that it worked with the MS Teams web app.
To look further into MS Teams desktop app, please try clearing the app cache as described in the below article and try again:

Hi Maarten,
Thanks for your post on the community forum. I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.
To narrow down the issue, please check if you see a similar experience on the MS Teams web app.
Go to access 'Teams Web App' https://teams.microsoft.com, use the "Use the web app instead" option to open teams in a browser(preferably Chrome or Edge) and check the outcome. It will help to isolate the issue with the desktop app.
If the issue is specific to the MS Teams desktop app, then try clearing the app cache by these steps and try again:

Please let me know the outcome, and I'll further look into this.
