Planner task dates - Task cannot be late once completed

HI all

I am considering using Planner to manage my team's ticket requests

However, I noticed that if I try to start the task after the due date, this automatically gets updated to the start date.

In other words, I cannot seem to be able to close a ticket as Late

any ideas?

thank you in advance

Valentina

    Hi VNovara,

Thank you for your update. We are highly appreciating your reply in our forum community.

According to your mentioned reply, we have tested from our end and observed that when we put start date into assigned task under Planner, the due date is automatically changing. Currently, we cannot change start date and due date with two different dates into Planner.

Currently as workaround, we can type such details in Notes section or Post Comments under assigned task regarding task details. Such as Due date of task and Start date of task. Currently, from this way we can manage the assigned task’s details.

Here is the screenshot for the example reference:

Also, we understand your whole concern that certain thing cannot meet to your requirement in particular way. So, for developing such options and features, we would like to recommend you to kindly give an interesting feedback via UserVoice service. Because, many features have built up by dedicated developing engineers based on customers’ good feedback, vote and experience. Microsoft is actively monitoring customers’ good feedback there, some new options and features would be added into the product service in future based on good feedback, your good idea important for Microsoft. It will help to improve product feature and service in future.

    Regards,

    Darpan

    HI Darpan,

I did create a new Plan from Planner itself, as you suggested. The issue persists.

    Please see below screenshots

    1. I created a new task and assigned it to me. The due date is set to 2 days ago so , correctly, the task looks late

    1. I opened the ticket. It looks like this

    1. I tried to enter the start date as of today (07/05/2020 Europe format) and automatically the due date gets updated to today too

I want the due date to stay as originally set so that when reporting on the tasks I can see that this task was completed after the due date and in term of performance it was late.

    Can it be done?

thanks a million for the quick reply

    Valentina

    Hi VNovara,

Have a good day. Thank you for the posting in our forum community.

Based on the description, at once we would like to suggest you to kindly create one Task from Planner side on associated team (not from Teams), try to see if the issue still occurs. Here is the detailed information article about: Manage tasks in Planner

Further, to narrow down such thing, we would like to collect below information from your side so we can further test from our side and assist you accordingly.

    1. Could you please provide us detailed steps and screenshot about “how did you create task and completed task”?
    2. Could you please provide us detailed steps and screenshot about “if I try to start the task after the due date, this automatically gets updated to the start date”?

For uploading screenshot > click on Image > browse image from PC and click on Upload option.

    Regards,

    Darpan
