Microsoft Teams shared PowerPoint does not display properly

When I or another member of a call shares a powerpoint it sometimes does not display properly. It simply looks like a mash of broken images as seen below.

I have tried: restarting, rejoining, enable/disable gpu acceleration in teams. But nothing changes.

Any help on this?

Hi Carl,

Thanks for posting back. Per your situation, my understanding is that your issue happens on Teams client, please go to Teams onlineand check the result. (If any misunderstanding, please point out.)

Moreover, you may also try to clear the cache of Teams and see if it helps:

1.  Exit Microsoft Teams client Completely in task manager.

  1. Go to File Explorer, and paste “%appdata%\Microsoft\teams” in the location box.
  2. Do the following operations:

Go to Application Cache > Cache and delete all files there.

Open Cache folder, delete all files.

Open database folder, delete all files.

Open GPUCache folder, delete all files.

Open IndexedDB folder, delete all files.

Open Local Storage folder, delete all files.

Open tmp folder, delete all files.

If the issue persists, we would like to collect more details from you for further investigate:

  1. Whether the issue also occurs in Teams Web App.
  2. The screenshot of the error page. You can click Insert image and upload the screenshots here.

  1. The screenshot of your Teams client version. Click Your avatar > About > Version.
  2. Does the issue happen on other users in your organization?
  3. As you mention "occured with 3 different presentations, 2 being shared with me, 1 where I was sharing the presentation", please open a new shared presentation with same image to identify whether the issue relates to all presentations or some specific presentations.

Best regards,

Gloria

I have a similar issue with MS Teams and PowerPoint. I post the Presentation in the the Files Tab and create a Tab linked to the presentation, however, lately, I am unable to view the entire presentation let alone edit it using MS Teams. My other teammates are not having this issue.
I have purged all the appdata as recommended. My automation admin even removed all the MS Teams files/folders and removed the program from my computer then conducted a new install of MS Teams but it still did not fix the issue. All other MS Documents seem to open and edit just fine in MS Teams, Its just my PowerPoint.. It is like it is trying to open the program but only shows the first slide without any possibility to edit or see other slides then says "Unknown Error" . I have tired also opening the file via the Webview and this does the same thing... I have resorted to viewing the downloaded copy on my computer and uploading the changes that I have made.

    Hi,

thank you for getting back to me :)

    1. Does the issue happens on all presentations or a specific one? Please open a new presentation and check the result.

This has occured with 3 different presentations, 2 being shared with me, 1 where I was sharing the presentation.

It does not happen when sharing a powerpoint window, only when sharing the file as PowerPoint in the selection.

    1. Whether other files like Word documents have the same situations?

I have not been able to replicate with any other document type.

    3. Did you get any error? If so, please capture the screenshot with us.

    No error occurred.

I have had errors related to camera previously and audio service stopping but nothing else related.

    kind regards

    Carl

    Hi Carl,

Thanks for posting your issue in this community.

Per your description, the PowerPoint presentation sometimes does not display well in Teams. If so, based on our test, we cannot reproduce it. may I confirm did you open the filein browser?  (or this does not meet your scenario, please point out.) If you Open in Desktop App, what will happen?

At the same time, you may try to run an **Online Repair**to see if it helps.

Also make sure you are using the latest version of Team application. You can click your name icon in the right top corner> Click Check for updates.

Besides, please also go to Teams online and open the presentation to see if it opens as expected. If it works, as a workaround, it’s recommended to use the Teams web APP to work with your teams.

If the issue still persists, could you provide the following information with us?

    1. Does the issue happens on all presentations or a specific one? Please open a new presentation and check the result.
    2. Whether other files like Word documents have the same situations?

    3. Did you get any error? If so, please capture the screenshot with us.

Please feel free to post back if you have any updates.

    Best regards,

    Gloria
