Why does Teams ring when I switch computers using a KVM switch?

I have a unique issue occurring with Teams that I could use some help with. My set up is as follows:

Dell laptop for work (Teams is loaded and active on this machine)

Acer personal laptop (no Teams on this computer at all)

Greathtek KVM switch (4 computers in (HDMI + USB 2.0 for each), one HDMI out, 4 USB 2.0 ports on the front panel)

USB wired headset plugged into the KVM switch

Wireless keyboard/mouse plugged into KVM switch

If I switch from my work laptop to my personal laptop using the KVM switch -AND- the USB headset is plugged into the KVM switch, the Teams ring notification starts going off. The only way to get the ringer to stop is to switch back to the work laptop and unplug the headset from the KVM switch. I can switch back and forth between both laptops and never get the ring notification so long as the headset is not plugged in. I have also had this happen when the headset is plugged directly to the work laptop USB port(s).

I cannot use software-based KVM switching due to settings and security on the work laptop.

No one is calling me on Teams when this occurs, either.

I cannot find any setting on Teams that would allow me to prohibit this from happening.

What the heck?? Anyone have an idea? I'd like to upgrade my headset to a wireless device but don't want to constantly have to unplug a USB key in order to use my KVM switch.
