Since last January I organise for a group of colleagues via breakout rooms the possiblity to drink virtual coffee via the breakout room option. And that the colleagues meet by accident like it was a real coffee corner. When everybody is in de Teamsmeeting I count the number of colleagues and make than a couple of breakout rooms. With the option that Teams decite who goes to whom breakout room. Now I've organised it 8 times I get the feedback from my colleauges that they meet-up everytime with the same colleagues. So it seems to me that the choise is not that random al I hoped for. Or is there any way to avoid this?

For information: I have sent in a serie the inviation to meet every week. When we come on the line the week after, I delete the breakout rooms of the week before and create new breakout rooms.

I have the same question, and the answer didn't answer it :-)

Every week I empty all rooms and start over with like 3-5 rooms, with 3-4 persons in each, we are like 10-20 in the meeting.

But some of the persons almost always end up together.
Our thinking was that you take the name and calculate a checksum that you use?

How does the algorithm work? Doesn't seem very random to us....

    Thanks,

    Cilla

    Hello, P

I am Igor, an Independent Advisor and I will be glad to help you with this question.

As per I understood, you are talking about the Automatic Breakout Room feature.

When you choose Automatically while creating the Breakout Room, the participants who have already joined the meeting will be assigned to different Breakout Rooms.

However, if any participant join the meeting after automatic allocation they will need to be assigned manually.

You can use the Automatic option to the participants that already joined the meeting, regardless they are member or guests.

If the participantes are being joined to the same room, please make sure to change the amount of rooms do you want to send the participants before create the breakout room.

    Hope it helps.
