Microsoft Teams Causing Network Drops

For several months now, whenever I am in a Microsoft Teams meeting my entire WiFi network drops out at least once if not several times over the duration of the meeting. My remote work setup requires that I be VPN'd in to a remote desktop connection on my desktop to access my office computer. To take meetings over Teams I connect via my laptop and the Teams app so I can use my webcam. I will have Teams open on the VPN connection at the same time. I noticed today that the connection would drop while I was in a Teams meeting the moment I received a message in the chat. I've seen many other users report similar issues and I'd love to know if anyone has found a fix or workaround. It's becoming a detriment to my work.

Hello SethGTacoma,

According to your description, my understanding is that the network connection will drop during a meeting. Given this situation, to see if it is a client-only problem, I suggest you attend the meeting in Teams Web App to see whether the same issue occurred. If not, you can keep using Teams Web App as a workaround.

Since you are using VPN connection while you are in a meeting, it is suggested that you use the split-tunnel VPN as VPNs are typically not designed or configured to support real-time media. For your network requirement and optimization for Teams, here is an article for your reference: Network requirements.

If convenient, to check whether the problem only occurred on your laptop, please join the Teams meeting on another PC with the same network connection to see the result.

Welcome back to share any updates with me.

Regards,

Seven
