Teams password incorrect problem

Hi the company I work for is not using Office 365 and have a Windows 2012 onsite PDC & BDC so our users logon to our on-site domain.

We are using free Teams and our users have each created a free Microsoft account using their company email addresses.  These email addresses (and so Microsoft account names) differ from their Windows usernames in that their email addresses are {firstinitial}{surname}@XXXXXXXX.co.uk  whilst their Windows username is {domainname}{forename}{firstletterofsurname}

The issue is that randomly when they try to login to free Teams it tells them they are using the incorrect password.  This is often not the case as I have asked them to write their Microsoft/Teams login down so we can be sure that the credentials are correct and this has happened far too many times for this to be anything other than a fault somewhere.

We get around this by resetting the password and continuing but randomly weeks/months later the same issue arises.  There is no pattern but it does seem to affect particular users more than others.

Is anybody able to suggest anything to solve this frustration please?

Thank you

Hey Daniel, I need a bit of a helping hand too.

I use Teams on my mobile, to attend my online school lectures.

It was okay for a while when I had my phone as the only device using Teams. (Android phone btw). However, when I tried signing in with a different phone, with the school ID and Password given to me, it would give me an error saying incorrect password.

I tried it on multiple devices, even on my iOS phone, wouldn't work.

I then tried signing out of the only device I had it signed in, to try if it works, but nah. I've lost access to my account from all my devices cuz it wouldn't let me log in.

I need help. If you can, it'd be great! Otherwise ima have to call out the teacher which I really don't want to :p

    Hi

My name is Daniel. I am an Independent Advisor.

Please ask the problematic users to follow the steps below to remove the old MS Teams credential cache.

    Step 1

    • Go to Windows settings > Accounts >
    • Select "Access Work and School" > Select old work account > Click Disconnect
    • Sign out and Sign in again. Go to "Email & App account" > Click on old work account and Remove

    Step 2:

    • Click Windows Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager.

Note: if View by is set to Category, click user accounts first, and then click Credential Manager.

    • Select the Windows Credentials option. Locate the set of credentials that has either Microsoft Teams in the name and then expand the corresponding folder.
    • Click Remove from Vault (depending on which version of Windows you are running).

    Kind Regards
