Large Gallery View not working

Across my school district there has been complaints of the large gallery view not working suddenly.  This was something that rolled out with little to no issue at the beginning of the year and has suddenly stopped working.  It shows as an option on the drop down list, but does not change the 3x3 view of the gallery.

I have tried restarting Teams, the computer, and checking for updates periodically.  Considering that the problem occurred for more than one person in my school district I'm wondering where the issue lies, Microsoft or at the district level?

    It does not give me the option to check off the new meeting experience.

    I've been waiting months for this to be available on my machine. When i go into Settings>General>Application area I do NOT have a option to turn on new meeting experience there.

    I've checked for updates weekly and am currently on:  Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.10372 (64-bit). It was last updated on 4/19/2021. (so less than a week old!)

    Large gallery view was working and no it is not. I do not have an option to turn on new experience. It’s just not there. I don’t understand why I had it and now I don’t. I need to for school. Is there a fix for this?

    Hi,

    I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

    Please make sure that students have enabled the new meeting experience

    Turn on the new experience

    1. Select your profile pic at the top of the Teams app, then Settings > General. (General should be what’s showing when you open Settings, so you probably won’t have to select it.)
    2. Select Turn on new meeting experience.
    3. Restart Teams by doing the following: a. Right-click or Cmd-click the Teams icon in the Windows taskbar or Mac System Tray. b. Select Quit. c. Start Teams again like you normally would.

    Please note that

    Large gallery view lets you see up to 49 video streams at once. This view is available when there are 10 or more attendees who are sharing video. To switch to large gallery, go to More options (…) in the meeting controls > Large gallery.

    Together mode is available when 5 or more participants are sharing video.

    I used to be able to see 9 video participants at a time and now suddenly can only see 4 at a time.

    I do NOT have an option to turn on "new experience" under settings - it is simply not even there (not grayed out or anything, just not there at all). I cannot see a way to adjust any settings to fix this.

    Has anyone found a fix?
