    Hi GuyStauber,

Thanks for your post on the community forum. I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

There is a possibility that you are experiencing a delay in receiving the verification code on your mobile. Please click on resend verification code again and check.

As an alternative, you could consider signing in with the Microsoft Authenticator app:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

Also, refer to the section "I'm not getting my verification code. What do I do?" in the following article to know some possible region you don't get the verification code and workaround:

    Regards

    Hi Nik,

many thanks for your reply, I've asked for resend code 7 or 8 times with no success, I've also visited both of those links, neither one solved the problem. I'm in the UK, is there any reason I wouldn't get a code? I don't want to increase security, I just want to sign in and I can't without a code sent to phone?

    Hi GuyStauber,

I've observed some delay in receiving verification code due to mobile network overload.

If you use the "Microsoft Authenticator app", you don't need to rely on email and phone number as these services.

Meanwhile, may I know if you are using MS Teams for personal or MS Teams free organization(small group of colleagues)?

To give you the background that MS Team free comes in two types.

    1. MS Teams for personal life – https://teams.live.com
    2. MS Teams free organization – https://teams.microsoft.com

Please access these URLs and let me know which one works for you, and I’ll look further into this.

If you are still not able to get to the verification code.

You could consider signing up for MS Teams free: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sign....

Note: Please choose "For work and organization" when asked, "How do you want to use Teams?" (refer to the screenshot)

    Regards

    Nik

So guess what happens when I sign up for MS Teams free? I'm asked to input my phone number so I can get sent a verification code. Same problem every time, no code, I cannot even add a phone number in my security settings. If it is mobile network overload shouldn't there be another verification alternative?

To answer your question I only use Teams for meetings because a colleague does...

so now how do I sign in?

As an alternate option, Microsoft advises using the Microsoft authenticator app to receive a verification code.

To look further, there is the possibility that you get this error because your phone number is associated with an existing Microsoft account as an alias. If so, you'll not be able to use it unless you remove it from that account.

To unlink your phone number, please go to

https://account.live.com/names/manage and login with your phone number in question.

After login in, you can remove the phone number from the account and reuse it.

    For more, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

Please let me know the outcome, and I'll look further into this.

    Regards

    Nik
