Controlling settings, permissions, and membership within Teams and channels
Hi CAB7752,
I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.
Unfortunately, It is not possible to prevent access to request Team.
You can do one thing from the back end with your IT/Office Administrator's help. It allows them to set Team's associated Group discovery to prevent Team from appearing in search.
This can be done using the PowerShell:
Set-UnifiedGroup -Identity "<your Group name>" -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $true

Given the situation, If you have any suggestion on your overall experience on this, please send your feedback to Microsoft product group by submitting your suggestion to Microsoft Teams UserVoice here:
https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com
Rest assured that the Microsoft monitors and reviews each customer's feedback and ideas, some features would be added into the product and services based on customer feedback in the future. At the same time, Microsoft can’t guarantee any specific features or timelines but promise to read and consider all suggestions as feasible.
Your time and understanding will be highly appreciated.
Regards
Nik
