Microsoft teams

Question

Next to the assignments tab in Microsoft teams there's a red dot next to it. I've been on each of classes individually and checked the assignments but the dot still hasn't disappeared. 

Anyone know what it means?

This is from a user on Reddit but it worked for me :)

Please do try and follow the steps below along with me:

Go to the Assignments tab where the red dot is shown and then on the topmost of the page there is something called "Search or type command" click on that bar and type "Assignments", then you'll see an app for assignment with a purple-coloured icon, click on that and you'll get your unread assignments mentioned. It usually comes when the person who sent the assignment returns back a turned in assignment. Hope this helped!

To understand your problem better and provide better suggestions, could you please send a screenshoot of the red dot to us for analysis?

In the meantime, here are some steps you can take to check this issue:

1. Go to the Activity feed and click Filters, click the three dots icon and click “Unread”, then type “Assignment mentioned” and check if there is any result. If so, click the result to mark it as read and check the result.
2. Login to Teams web APP to see if there is the same red do next to the Assignment tab.

On the left you can see the red dot, I've also opened the tab which shows no notifications. I logged on to teams on my phone and the red dot did not appear it's only on my laptop

I have a student who has the same problem... We can't work out how to get rid of this for them.

I also have had this issue show up recently and it's very annoying because you want to try and clear it, but it never goes away.
