Invalid Class - Deployment Share error when trying to set Share name in DeploymentWorkbench

I am trying to setup MDT for my organization however I am not getting very far.

Deploymentworkbench is unable to set a Share Name. It gives me an error "Invalid Class"

Microsoft states it should automatically populate with DeploymentShare$ and the full UNC path below.

If I try to manually type it in, MMC immediately crashes. I tried to look up this error online but no one else seems to have this issue.

I have ADK and MDT installed on a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM.

I am following the guide below:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/deploy-windows-mdt/prepare-for-windows-deployment-with-mdt

Thank you for any help!106650-2021-06-17-11-01-49-window.png106703-2021-06-17-11-01-49-window.png106685-2021-06-17-11-00-21-window.png

    Hi, @Steven Kraft
Do you have the latest .NET Framework feature installed on your Windows Server 2012 R2 VM?
You may check below article for more details, I see it also applies to Windows Server 2012 R2.

    Hi, @Steven Kraft
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
In my lab, I can set a Share Name without any issue.
If you keep the default Share Name, will it also give you an error?
May we know what is the version of your ADK and MDT?

    HI @AllenLiu-MSFT ,

So here are the steps I am taking if I stick with the defaults.

    1) I leave the default as C:\DeploymentShare and click next

    107028-2021-06-18-10-37-25-window.png

2)Now I get the same error "Invalid class"

    107087-2021-06-18-10-39-20-window.png

    3) Interestingly, if I click OK on the error to close the dialogue box, then click NEXT. I get this new dialogue box and the UNC path displays

    107088-2021-06-18-10-40-57-window.png

    4) Unfortunately, if I close out the dialogue box and then try to click in the box under "Share Name" the MMC crashes

    5) Here is the Unhandled Exception error

I am running Deployment Workbench version 6.3.8456.1000
I downloaded the latest ADK from Microsoft's website - version 2004

I am using MDT version 8456
