Microsoft Teams encryption error

I have instructors that work all around the state, and I recently created a TEAM for everyone to access and edit Excel sheets.  This is a new process for everyone, and no one has experience in Teams, including myself until now.  This application was supposed to be so easy, but this has been an absolute nightmare, to say the least.  The newest error that many people are receiving, I believe when they try to follow the invite link, is an "Open in Desktop App? We're sorry.  We can't open the workbook in the browser because it uses these unsupported features: Workbook encryption.  Do you want to open the file in the desktop app instead?"  This error is received before even accessing the folders in Teams.  I'm not sure what the issue is, or how to solve it.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you so much!

It seems the problem was with Chromebooks.  Those with Chromebooks needed to download an Excel app because the encryption option does not work with the web browser.  Once they did that, they were able to access their folders and workbooks.  Thank you!

    Hi Jennifer,

May I know whether this issue happen with every Teams or specific Teams?

    Is password protected Excel file?

If so, you may try to share any unprotected Excel file to see whether the problem still occurs. See Collaborate on files with your Team

Moreover, please provide us with the detailed steps information how did you shared a Excel file in Teams and error message via the Private Message for further analysis.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal
