Given your situation, may I confirm that whether you use Teams Windows client? If so, I would suggest you sign in to Teams web side and check the results.
Meanwhile, I also recommend you try opening this document directly see if you have permissions to edit them.

- How many users in your organization are affected?
- Would you mind sharing some details about how you open the documents from Teams?
