How does a shift "Owner" request a shift

We are testing out using shifts for a few people. I have added 15 people to a group and have 3 owners.

What we are running into is the shift OWNERS can't request a shift. Is there a way to do this?

So the issue is on the WEB App, members and/or admins can't request shifts.

I have one member that doesn't have a phone so must use the web version. The admins say it is easier to be on the web app when people are requesting so they don't have to go back and forth to request a shift.

Like I am an admin and on the WEB APP, I see this screen.  I have no way to request a shift. If I click on the 3 dots on the open shift, I just get edit, open or assign.

Seven, thanks for the reply but my question is a bit different.

I have 2 "owners" of the schedule to approve, create, assign shifts. The issue is the owners can't "request" a  shift for themselves.

One of the owners will create a schedule and send it to the team. Everyone requests shifts they want and they are assigned on a first request basis. The owners need to be able to request shifts as the members do so it can stay on a first request basis.

    Is this possible?

    Hi KathyLees,

    Thanks for your reply.

Based on your description and testing in my Teams, I understand your concern now. For the members, if they would like to request an open shift, they can directly click on that shift and click Request button and then wait for approval. If they cannot send request, please double check if you turn on the Open shifts option in Settings.

For the owners like you, the simplest method is to assign that shift to you directly. However, if you want to do as members do, there is no such button for owners. If convenient, you can do this only through Teams App on your phone.

If this cannot meet your requirement, we recommend you that kindly give your feedback and share your experience via our UserVoice Service. Every customer’s voice is important to us. The related engineers will design or upgrade features referring to customers’ feedback and your ideas will help us to make our product and features better for you. Hi KathyLees,

Apologies for delay and thanks for your update. Generally, everyone can request shifts in Teams. To narrow this problem down, please try the following suggestion and check if it works:

    1.  Sign into Teams Web App and check if the owners can request shifts.

    2.  Change another group and create a new schedule and try again to check if there is any difference.

    1. Remove the owner from the schedule and then re-add again to check if this problem still persists.

Besides, you mentioned that you’d like the owners to be assigned on a first request basis. May I ask what that means? If convenient, could you please provide me with the screenshots of every step the owner took so that I can do a further test and assist you.

    Regards,

    Seven

    Hello KathyLees,

From your description, may I ask if you mean that the owners would like to request a shift? In general, everyone in your group can send shift requests including time off request, swap request and offer request, but only owners can decide whether the requests can be approved. For more information about shift request, here are some articles for your reference:   Time off and availability in Shifts, Manage your shifts in Shifts. In addition, for owners, they can also assign shift to the members in the group. To do this, please see: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/fill-out-a-schedule-in-shifts-2d58df9b-1c6c-4c84-b0c3-835de7ad13ea#bkmk_addshift.

If I misunderstand your meaning, to further assist you, please kindly provide me with more detailed information. A screenshot of the error message you got would be highly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Seven
