It's not something that happens all the time but we have seen it happen a few times

We have seen in some cases that when we have an uneven number of participants and send them out in breakout rooms only even number of people can be sent to breakout rooms and rest are "left over" in the main room - any ideas what to do?

Thanks for your post on the community forum. I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.
Ideally, It should automatically accommodate the participants in the breakout room.
Does this happen all the time? Also, do you see one participant left in the main room after creating rooms, not when you start the room?
Note: Currently, participants who joined the meeting via PSTN or Teams devices can't be assigned to rooms. We suggest using the main meeting as a breakout room for these people.
Meanwhile, please try clearing the MS Teams app cache as described in the following article and try again: https://www.uvm.edu/it/kb/article/clearing-team...
