Hi,

A colleague working on a Citrix desktop cannot log in on the local installation of MS Teams. After a new installation it always works for a short time, then he cannot log in anymore. The webapp works fine. The error code 6 is displayed.

What could be the reason for this?

    Hello Jochen,

After checking the logs, Teams failed to sign in due to Modern Authentication failed:

-- info -- Modern authentication failed here, but you'll still be able to sign in. Your status code is 6. diag:0

I will provide the next steps via private message: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/privatemessage/inbox

    Regards,

    Rick

    Hello Jochen,

First in order to narrow down the issue, please try to sign in Teams web app to see if it works for you. Meanwhile, please try to clear the local cache to see whether you can sign in Teams desktop client successfully:

    1. Exit Teams completely. Go to %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Cache and delete all the files.
    2. Go to %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Application Cache\Cache and delete all the files.
    3. Restart Teams desktop client and sign in again.

If the same issue persists, I need to collect some logs for further check: Try to reproduce this issue. Right click Teams icon in system tray and click Get logs. Save the log file to your desktop and send to us in private message: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/privatemessage/inbox

    Regards,

    Rick

    Hi Rick,

Thank you for the fast reply. The Teams web app is working, so it seems not to be a license problem.

To delete the cache files didn't help.

I'll upload the logs in a few minutes.

    Regards,

    Jochen

    Hello Jochen_842,

After checking the logs, this error may occur because Microsoft Teams requires Forms Authentication. When you deploy AD FS, Forms Authentication is not enabled for the intranet by default.

If Windows Integrated Authentication fails, you are prompted to sign in by using Forms Authentication. To resolve this issue, enable Forms Authentication by using the AD FS Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in on the computer that has the local copy of Active Directory. To do this, please  contact the IT department and follow these steps:

    1. In the navigation pane, browse to Authentication Policies.
    2. Under Actionsin the details pane, select Edit Global Primary Authentication.
    3. On the Intranet tab, select Forms Authentication.
    4. Select OK (or Apply).

    Regards,

    Rick

    Hi Rick,

Our admin told me that this option is already set.

One thing I noticed: The MS Teams version which is distributed to the computers automatically is working fine. It a version from December 2019. After the automatic update, the login is not possible again.

    Regards,

    Jochen
