Clarification on sharing MS Teams channels

Hi Support,

I am attempting to share a MS Teams channel with another external team and have followed this guide to the letter and am still getting the "You can't share this channel with people from this org."

I confirmed that my org has the proper inbound and outbound settings on and the external identity created as per the guide linked above, and so the admin from the other org has done the same too. We have also confirmed our settings in the Teams Admin center.

I do see in the guide linked that it says "Shared channels between Commercial and GCC clouds are not supported." This could potentially be the culprit as I am in Commercial and they are in GCC.

My main question is this, does the verbiage of "Shared channels between Commercial and GCC clouds are not supported" mean that Commercial cannot interact with GCC and GCC High or is it that Commercial cannot interact with just GCC or GCC High.

Thank you!

    Dear Cam Mou,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that the issue you are experiencing is due to the fact that you are attempting to share a channel between a Commercial cloud and a GCC cloud, which is not currently supported.

The verbiage "Shared channels between Commercial and GCC clouds are not supported" means that Commercial cannot interact with GCC or GCC High (cannot interact with GCC, and cannot interact with GCC high). I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Sherry | Microsoft Community Moderator
