Hello,

we have Outlook 2016 version. Suddenly last 1 week *.PST file not properly working. While open Outlook window the screen closes automatically with 10 - 20 Secs. And after reopen it shows error "Something is wrong with one of your data files and Outlook needs to close. Outlook might be able to fix your file. Click OK to run the Inbox Repair Tool". After Select "OK" Inbox Repair tools open and shows with the particular ".pst" file. I Click "Start" and it takes some times to completes.

To solve the problem I created the New PST file and moved all the mails from existing PST folder to New PST folder.

Note: Even after repair the *.PST file also same issue happen. Even when I move all existing mails to new PST also same problem.

Here are some steps you can try:

    Disable add-ins:

    • Launch Outlook in safe mode by holding down the Ctrl key while opening it. This will disable any third-party add-ins.
    • If Outlook functions normally in safe mode without any unexpected closures, it suggests that one of the add-ins may be causing the issue.
    • Disable recently installed or suspicious add-ins by navigating to File -> Options -> Add-Ins.
    • Restart Outlook and observe if the problem is resolved.

    Repair the Office installation:

    • Open the Control Panel and go to "Programs and Features" (or "Add or Remove Programs").
    • Locate your Microsoft Office installation in the list of installed programs.
    • Select the installation and choose the "Repair" option. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process.
    • After the repair is finished, restart your computer and launch Outlook again to see if the issue is resolved.

If the above steps don't fix the issue, you can consider the following options:

    1. Update Microsoft Office: Ensure that you have the latest updates installed for your version of Outlook. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements.
      1. Create a new Outlook profile: Sometimes, a corrupted profile can cause unexpected problems. Create a new profile and set up your email accounts again to see if it resolves the issue.
    2. Reinstall Microsoft Office: As a last resort, you can uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office, including Outlook. However, please note that this option requires more time and effort.

I hope these suggestions help you fix the problem with Outlook 2016. If you have any more questions or need more help, just ask.
