Setting up a new workspace or conversation thread for collaboration in Microsoft Teams
Hi Nina, My name is Umar and I'd be happy to help you out with your question.

According to the Microsoft Teams limits and specifications, there is no limit of 6 channels per team. The actual limits are:
1,000 channels per team (includes up to 30 private channels) 30 private channels per team
For specific instructions on the items listed above, kindly check the link below. https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/limits-specifications-teams
If you have a paid Microsoft Teams subscription, you should be able to create up to 1,000 channels per team, including up to 30 private channels.
To create more channels, make sure you are an owner of the team. As an owner, you can create new standard and private channels as needed, up to the 1,000 channel limit per team.
If you are still experiencing issues creating additional channels beyond 6, I recommend checking the following:
Ensure you have the necessary permissions as a team owner to create channels.
Verify you are not hitting any other limits, such as the 25,000 member limit per team or the 10,000 member limit for real-time updates in channels.
Licensing and Plan: Although you mentioned having a paid account, different Microsoft 365 plans have different features and limits. Ensure your plan supports the expected number of channels.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
