Unpinned Teams Icon on Left Sidebar

I accidentally unpinned my Teams icon from the lefthand sidebar in Teams. I can't get to my groups and channels now.

I found this answer:

To pin the Teams icon again, kindly follow below steps.

  1. From the toolbar on the left side of the screen, click the Ellipsis button (...)
  2. Then select the Teams icon from the recent apps.
  3. Once it appeared on the toolbar, right click the icon and select "pin".

This is NOT working.... when I do hit the elipses, the Teams app is not in there. I try to search for it and it can't be found.

I know that I have not been deleted from the teams. I can still find a work around to get to my groups and channels. However, I really need the icon to be on the left-hand sidebar.

    Hi Kelsey,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. Don't worry, there are a couple of other ways to get the Teams icon back on the sidebar even if it's not showing in recent apps. Here are two options:

Option 1: Use the Search Bar

Click on the magnifying glass search bar at the top of the Teams window. Type "Teams" in the search bar. The Teams app icon should appear in the search results. Hover over the Teams icon and click the three dots (...) that appear next to it. From the menu, select "Pin".

Option 2: Access Teams from the Start Menu (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac)

Minimise the Teams window (click the minus sign in the top right corner). Go to your Start Menu (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac). Search for "Microsoft Teams." Right-click on the Teams application and select "Pin to taskbar" (Windows) or "Add to Dock" (Mac). This will create a shortcut to Teams outside the app itself. You can then launch Teams from this shortcut and the icon should reappear in the sidebar.

    Additional Tips:

If neither of these options work, try restarting the Teams application. You can also try resetting the Teams app. Here's how to do it depending on your operating system: Windows: Search for "Settings" and navigate to Apps & features. Find Microsoft Teams, click on it, and select "Modify." Follow the on-screen instructions to reset. Mac: Quit Teams completely. Then, go to Finder > Applications and move the Teams application to Trash. After that, reinstall Teams from the official Microsoft website.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give back to the Community. Help the next person who has this issue by indicating if this reply solved your problem. Click Yes or No below. Best Regards, Furkaan
