Can I 'copy' a plan in Microsoft Planner to use as a template/example? Will it cause issues with the original plan?

I'd like to make a copy of a current plan we have going in Planner to use as an example in future months/years. If I copy the plan, will it update once tasks are completed? If so, how can I make it essentially untouchable. Would like a real example frozen in time that people can look at. Thanks

    Hi!

    I had the same problem until I shared the project I wanted to replicate with a Group/Team.

    The option "copy plan" only appeared when I:

    • 1st: Shared the project with a Group/Team;
    • 2nd: Opened the project and clicked on the 3 dots next to the project name and the option "copy plan" appeared. In my case, if I didn't open the project, the "copy plan" option didn't show up.

    I hope this helps you!

    Hi there,

    I've just started using planner today and the planner within MSTeams I'm looking at has not got a three dots option to copy plan... I have open, rename unpin plan, hide and copy link to plan. None of which allow me to either copy the plan to use again Or save as a template. I'm a little confused. is there a new version now that does not have this option?

    Hi.

    In the web version of planner (planner.cloud.microsoft) there is also no option to copy a plan. Only one to "Copy link to plan".
    I cannot find any valid instructions on how to reuse a plan. All available forum posts seem to refer to a older version of planner.

    Is anybody knowing anything about this?

    Hi,

    I'm having the same issue. There is no "three dots" showing. I am trying to move to Planner but there are many projects/task lists that are repeated every year and I don't want to have to redo the plan every time!

    Instructions are wrong. It's not inside the 3 dots anymore:

    1. Open the plan you wish to copy
    2. Click on more actions, just next to the plan's name (an icon like this: V)
    3. Ta-da!
