How can I change my name as Microsoft 365 Admin?

Question

I am logged in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and I am trying to change MY account name.

I have changed the user name associated with the product (TEAMS ESSENTIAL) but in the top right corner of the admin center, the circle with the initials in it still displays the previous name and initials.

When i go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/?ref=MeControl it displays the new edited name.

When i sign into Microsoft Teams it displays the old name.

I really need some help here.

To change your Microsoft 365 account name, you need to follow these steps:

Log in to the Microsoft 365 admin center as a global admin.

Select Users > Active users and choose the user you want to change.

Select Manage contact information or Manage username, depending on what you want to change.

Change the display name or the email address, and save the changes.

Restart your PC and sign out and sign in again to your Office apps to see the new name.

If you have already followed these steps and still see the old name, it might be a cache issue. You can try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser to see if that resolves the issue.

Use this link instead: Active users - Microsoft 365 admin center

Select your name, and you can change from there. Some changes on the business side can take up to 24 hours to reflect.
