Deadline extensions through assignments function

Question

In Teams Classroom, is there a way for a student to request a deadline extension and for the instructor to grant it through the assignment itself? I would like the deadlines to be memorialized in the assignment itself, rather than for the student to email me and one of us having to add a note to the assignment.

Hi N,

You can turn in an assignment in Microsoft Teams. This will allow students to turning in their assignment after the due date, but you as a teacher should allow late turn-ins or if they asked for a revision.

Or if the students will reach out to you directly, there is an option to edit an assignment which allows them to extend an assignment's deadline or update its resources after you've already assigned.
