How to switch off Teams notifications from my other account?

I use the Teams desktop app on Windows for my professional communication needs. Recently, Teams has become available on my private Microsoft account as well. I don't really use Teams privately, however.

My problem is that the desktop app shows that there are notifications:

These are notifications for my private account. I am not interested in receiving them, and the blue "2" icon in the window's top bar nags at me. I can just go to the private Teams account and clear them, but this is a bother, and I know I will get other notifications in the future (usually scammers trying to get in touch with me).

Is there a way to switch off such cross-account notifications? I have not found a way in the settings.

    Hello Bernd Bausch,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

From what I understand, you primarily use the Teams desktop app on Windows for work purposes. Recently, it seems Teams has also linked to your personal Microsoft account, which you don’t actively use. As a result, you’ve started receiving notifications from your personal account, and you’d prefer to stop receiving notifications from your Personal account. I'll be providing some steps to follow in order to turn off notification and remove your personal account from your Teams profile.

    1. Disable Notifications for the Personal Account: If you'd prefer not to sign out completely, you can turn off notifications for your personal account by following these steps: In teams, switch to your personal account >> Click on the three dots (...) next to your profile >> Click on Settings >> Go to Notifications >> Turn all notifications off>> This will reduce the spam alerts while keeping the account logged in.
    2. Sign out of the Personal Account: To do this, Open the teams Desktop app >> Click your Profile Picture in the top right >> You'll see both your work and personal accounts listed >> Click on your personal account>> then click sign out. After signing out, it will stop syncing and you should no longer get notifications from it.
    3. Remove Personal Account from Windows Setting: If you're automatically signed back in later, open Windows Settings (Windows + I) >> Go to Accounts >> Email & Accounts >> Look for personal Microsoft account under "Account used by other apps >> Click it and select Remove. This will stop windows from pushing your personal account into Teams.

    Best Regards,
