Unable to delete adaptive cards posted by WorkFlow in MS teams

Hey all!

I am experiencing an issue where I am neither allowed to delete my Workflow messeges from my teams channel despite being an owner of both the channel and the PowerAutomate flow itself.

It is impossible from both mobile (recomended in previouis discussion) and computer applications. I am simply greeted with:

  • Computer: "Failed to Delete" and the options "retry" and "cancel"
  • Mobile: "We couldn't delete the messege. Try again later"

Any ideas on how to rectify this? I need to be able to clear the channel messeges up.

Until a few months ago it was not a problem to delete the adaptive cards postet by a Power automate flow. only recently it became impossible. Even the ones beeing postet from the same flow as before cannot be deleted anymore. But if i try to delete a Post created with a workflow that is not an adaptive card , it works. Is there a reason why this functionality was removed?

What is a problem, especially for us, is not only that you can't delete it, but even the bot doesn't have the option to delete it. That would be enough for us, for example, especially because we have an automation system that creates a card when a customer device goes offline and this should actually be deleted when the device is online again.

Simply so that support only has the most important information without losing the overview.

    Hello Mia!

I apologize for my tardiness in replying - and sure the answer was helpful in a way of knowing that I was not at fault at least.

However, the adaptive cars being regarded by the system in this way seems counterintuative and greatly deminishes the value that one can gain from these flows.

What I would ask for then is instead having a way for the flow to delete the messege, but I cannot find that either.

    Hi Enlund Pontus,

Thank you for reaching out, and I understand how frustrating it is not to be able to manage messages in your own Teams channel.

Currently, messages posted by Power Automate flows (including adaptive cards) are treated as app-generated content, and Teams does not support deleting messages sent by apps or bots, even for channel owners or the flow creators. This behavior applies across desktop, web, and mobile versions.

At the moment, there’s no official workaround to delete these messages once posted. That said, here are a couple of suggestions that might help:

    • Modifying the Flow going forward to reduce the amount of adaptive card messages (e.g., consolidate information, use chat posts instead of cards if deletion is important).
    • If these messages are test or temporary data, you can consider using a private channel or dedicated test team for staging purposes.

We understand this limitation can impact your workflow. Since this is a design limitation on the product side, we recommend submitting your feedback to the Microsoft Teams product team via the Ideas · Community. Feedback from users like you plays a vital role in helping improve the product.

We hope that this problem can be properly resolved in the end. Thank you for your support and understanding.

    Best regards,

Mia - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
